The story

Why a software architect would build a math playground.

Most of the math I learned properly, I learned by trying to build something with it.

TCY Consulting keeps me busy designing AI-enabled software and shipping mobile apps — work that lives or dies on whether the underlying math makes sense to the people using it. You can't build good tools on math you don't feel. That's the gap MathWiz is trying to close.

Every concept on this site earned its keep somewhere in real code first — matrices in computer graphics, probability in recommendation systems, linear algebra in ML pipelines. The lessons here strip away the jargon and keep the intuition. Because once you can feel why a matrix multiplies the way it does, the formulas stop being homework and start being tools.

This is a side project, built late nights and weekends, with the same care I'd put into a product at work. If it makes one matrix feel less scary for someone out there, it did its job.

What drives the work

Three pillars, no fluff.

01

Intuition first, formulas second.

Show the why with a live demo before the equation. If you can move it and see it respond, the formula writes itself in your head.

02

Built like real software.

The same rigor that goes into a production app goes into a lesson. Versioned, tested, designed. No "TODO" sections, no half-built pages.

03

Honest about what's hard.

Some math genuinely takes time. We won't pretend otherwise. But hard isn't the same as opaque — and the second one we can fix.

Built the playground. Now go play in it.

The Matrix tutorial is the best place to start — nine lessons, eight live demos, and a glossary you'll actually want to flip through.
